The Brazilian government launched an audacious initiative to debureaucratize importation process in the country, noticeable for posing tariff and non-tariff barriers for importer companies.
The New Importation Process aims to reformulate administrative procedures to give more agility and efficiency to foreign trade, meanwhile permitting enhanced control by the authorities over operations.
One of the innovations introduced by the New Importation Process is the creation of the Unified Import Declaration (DUIMP) to replace current Import Declaration (DI) and Simplified Import Declaration (DSI). As information are given in advance, technical procedures such as risk management can be made at an early stage, reducing logistical time and lowering costs for the importer.
The New Importation Process will also benefit importers that perform operations subject to licensing, opening the possibility of acquiring a single license for several operations instead of one license-per-operation as currently occurs.
Other debureaucratization initiatives include:

With this initiative, the Brazilian government aims to improve business environment and increase confidence from the private sector to restore economic growth.
